We All Die Alone

"We All Die Alone"
charcoal
22" x 30"

I made this drawing after spending a few weeks caring for Mr. R.G., a 35-year-old AIDS patient who was dying from toxoplasmosis of the brain. Watching Mr. R.G. dying alone, tied to a bed, with tubes in his nose, was exceptionally sad. I want people to be aware that going through all sorts of medical interventions and dying alone in a hospital is not necessarily the best way to go. I hope people will make their desires for end-of-life care known to their loved ones long before the time comes.
